TECH TIP: Pioneer XDJ-Aero REVIEW
This year at the DJ Times Expo in Atlantic City, I got to check out the latest offering from Pioneer. The XDJ-Aero is the first WIFI Enabled All-In-One DJ System which allows up to Four Wifi devices to play music. As a Big Pioneer Supporter I’m always anxious to test out new products from them. I had DJ Lars from Pioneer show me the main features of the XDJ-Aero in this video below.
Later on, I caught up with some of my fellow DJ friends including Chicago’s DJ Spin, DJ Flipside from The Jump Smokers and from New York 923 Now’s Jay Dabhi and KTU’s Raphael Valentino that got to check out the XDJ-Aero as well. This video sums up their initial thoughts.
Here are my personal thoughts. I absolutely love the idea of WIFI enabled DJ products as I believe that is the next evolution for not just DJ systems like this one but for future versions of the Pioneer CDJ series. In fact that was a question I had asked them directly although I believe it will take some time before they integrate that into the CDJs. As for the XDJ-Aero, professional DJ’s won’t be a fan of this as you could see in the video. However, I do believe there is use for this with your enthusiasts, mobile DJs, and DJ’s that play in small lounges and bars that want an alternative to big bulky controllers and laptops. With this unit you don’t need a computer at all-Just your XDJ and a Smartphone or iPad. Is this for everyone? No. However, Pioneer has once again shown their cutting edge out of the box thinking that will definitely set the trend for future products. For more info go to www.pioneerdj.com
