1 NYC/NJ Weekend Recap (Feb 25, 2011) with The Riddler
This past weekend I made my monthly trip to New York City. I had two shows in New Jersey but made some stops on New York City. First stop was at Z100 for the 5 o’clock Whistle Mix that I do each and every Friday at 5pm with JJ. It’s not often that I get to actually be in the studio LIVE so it was great seeing the gang from Z100.
Later that night was my first gig. I was spinning in Elizabeth, NJ at Dolce Lounge for the Playboy Energy Drink party along with Playboy’s Cybergirl Victoria Stevens.
Resident DJ Robbie Wilde had a nice set and started the party. I came on about Midnight and played til 2am. It was a nice mixed crowd and great turnout.
I decided to head back into the city to catch Bob Sinclar at Pacha-NYC. We get there around 3:30am and it was still packed. I only got to hear the last 20 minutes of his set and Bob Sinclar ended it with his classic “Love Generation”. I started hearing some Classic House tracks like Royal House “Can you Party”, Tori Amos “Professional Widow” (Armand Van Helden Remix), so my friends and I decided to stay for a little bit. It was refreshing to hear those classic records on the Pacha Soundsystem. I was wondering who was DJing so I looked up and lo and behold, it was House Music Legend Todd Terry. I decided to make my way up to the DJ booth and ran into Nervous Records Kevin Williams, Producer/Writer/Singer Duane Harden, Pacha’s very own Rob Fernandez, and another House Legend Roland Clark. It was such a great vibe I forgot the time. I ended up staying til they closed at 6am. It had been a long time since I stayed til closing which the last time was when Pacha was Soundfactory in 2004.
After getting breakfast at 8am and some sleep, I headed down to Atlantic City for my next gig. The D’Jais Halfway to Summer party was to take place at The Pool inside Harrah’s Casino. The last time I played at this party we had about 3,000 people. Bon Solid, Kipples, Frank and the rest of the D’jais crew knows how to throw a party and this year I got to share the decks with my buddies Chris Moody and John Farruggio. As soon as I got to the Harrah’s Casino I knew it was going to be a crazy night. The Jersey Shore definitely invaded Harrah’s with the young people definitely outnumbering the old people inside the casino.
I hopped on the stage to spin a little before Midnight and it was Insane! It’s always fun playing for the D’jais crowd because they love House Music. It was one of those nights where you could play just about anything and it would work. Chris Moody followed up after me and as usual had a Solid Set! John Farruggio came on next and kept it going til 3am. When it was all said and done, the party broke all records with over 5000+ people. The previous record was held by Kim Kardashian when she made an appearance last year. One thing’s for sure is that this summer is going to be a crazy one down the Jersey Shore! I’ll be back once again as your monthly D’Jais in Belmar Resident DJ. I’ll see you in Belmar at D’jais!
